A stalwart of the club indeed, whose strength of opinion was matched only by his strength of service to members, both being driven by his caring so much about the club. RIP.

I knew him from Wolverhampton MC and did a climb with him at Land’s End many years ago. A true gentleman. RIP.

I knew Mike back in the 70s when I climbed with the Wolverhampton club. A lovely bloke. Went with him and Dave “Hamish” Wilkinson on my first trip to Scotland.

I first met Mike though Wolverhampton MC and it was a pleasure to climb with him at the roaches probably about 10 years ago now. He was more than twice my age back then and had more than twice the grace, he certainly showed me a thing or two. It was a highlight of my early climbing career to have climbed with him.

Over the last year or so he’d been making regular appearances at our local wall in Wolverhampton.
Most weeks he’d turn up and elegantly climb a few routes. His longevity in the sport is a testament to his ability and passion for climbing. RIP Mike.

A great character, a good friend and one of the greatest servant of the CC. I worked with Mike over many years nothing was to much for the Club he really wanted to contribute. Always a pleasure to talk to a real old school gentleman.
