Situation: the hut is in a secluded spot in the woods below Froggatt Edge on the west side of the A625, 1km north of the Chequers Inn. The hut is an ideal base for climbing on the nearby gritstone edges and limestone crags and within easy walk of Froggatt Edge itself. Accommodation: 17 bunk spaces. The hut offers comfortable, dry accommodation does that mean that our other huts don’t offer comfortable and dry accommodation? in the heart of the Peak District in 2 rooms (front 9 bunks reserved for CC members at all times and rear 8 bunks for members and outside bookings). One bunk in the front room is available, by prior arrangement, for ambulatory disabled users. Limited camping is available with space for a couple of small tents (members only).
Access: there is a reflective sign at the head of the driveway which should be seen when approaching from the south. If coming from a northern (Sheffield) direction, drivers should be aware that the right-hand-turn to enter the driveway is extremely tight. Particularly at night or in poor visibility it is strongly recommended drivers continue 1km downhill to the Chequers Inn, turn round and approach from the south.
Services: halogen hobs and electric oven, gas central heating, electric showers. There is a small BBQ, bring your own fuel for this and carefully dispose of the ashes when cold. Cooking fat should be poured into worktop fat traps not flushed down sinks, then disposed with general refuse. Refuse, in black bin bags ONLY, should be placed in wheelie bins at the top of the drive for collection. Take recycling home. Pillows are provided, use disposable pillow case covers provided and dispose of at the end of visit with refuse. No bed linen is provided.
