Situation: occupying a superb setting between St Ives and St Just on the B3306, just 10 minutes’ walk to Bosigran Cliff, 600m east of Rosemergy Farm, 12km from St. Ives and 10km from Penzance. The Count House was originally built as the Carn Galver Mine accounting house. It is the only climbing club hut in Cornwall and well-placed for climbing on the nearby sea cliffs.

Accommodation: 40 bunk spaces. Non-CC members’ parties use bunk room 4 (situated at the west end of the first floor sleeps 12), larger groups may also use bunk room 2 (sleeps 6) and bunk room 3 (sleeps 4). Bunk room 1 (sleeps 12) and bunk room 5 (sleeps 6) are for CC members ONLY, though bunk room 5 on the ground floor may be booked by non-CC groups which include an ambulatory disabled person if requested at the time of booking. Discreet camping (CC members’ parties only) for several small tents.

Access: the gate across the western entrance driveway is padlocked and opened with the key fob. The gate must be closed at all times to keep out grazing cattle and ponies. Front and back doors operated by key fob. A burglar alarm is fitted, the box in the lobby is also operated by key fob and clear instructions to arm and disarm the alarm are found inside. A slave panel in the scullery can also be used to arm and disarm the alarm. The burglar alarm box also holds a metal key to open the conventional padlock on the gate in the event the electronic padlock fails. 

Services: electricity (isolator in lobby), hot water supplied by gas boiler, electric cookers and electric and gas hobs. Cooking fat should be poured into worktop fat traps not flushed down sinks, then disposed with general refuse. Refuse, in black bags ONLY, should be placed in the wheelie bins at the top of the eastern driveway for collection. Take recycling home or to the nearby recycling centre at Sainsbury’s supermarket in Penzance. Pillows are provided, use disposable pillow case covers provided and dispose of at the end of visit with refuse. No bed linen is provided.
