Situation: superbly situated in the heart of Borrowdale 6km south of Keswick on the B5289 in the small village of Grange. Cross the river into the village, follow the narrow road left then right and after 200m the Old School is directly in front of you as the road swings sharply right. Parking for 8 cars. Please park facing the fellside and not too close to the neighbour’s on the right. The hut is within walking distance of many of Borrowdale’s finest climbing grounds, Falcon Crag, Shepherd’s Crag, Black Crag, Goat Crag. A regular bus service up and down the valley and over to Buttermere passes the front door, which opens access to many more fine crags.

Accommodation: there are 13 bunk spaces (large room sleeps 10, small room is for CC members ONLY and/or booked in advance as a bookable room, 3 or 4 bunk spaces depending on group size). Camping for CC members’ parties is permitted for up to 4 small tents but please be sensitive to neighbours and do not camp on the area adjacent to the neighbouring houses.

Access: front door operated by key fob.

Services: gas boiler and radiators, gas stove, mains water, mains electricity lighting. Cooking fat should be poured into worktop fat traps not flushed down sinks, then disposed with general refuse. Refuse, in black bin bags ONLY, should be placed in wheelie bins for collection. Pillows are provided, use disposable pillow case covers provided and dispose of at the end of visit with refuse. No bed linen is provided.
