In 1909 The Climbers’ Club (CC) published the first ever climbing guidebook  detailing the climbs on Lliwedd in Snowdonia and the club has remained at the forefront of guidebook production ever since. From the outset our aim has been to make the details of climbs in different areas readily available to all climbers. The club currently has 3o guides in print with new titles and revised editions in preparation. Geographically our publications cover most of Wales and the southern half of England and include both comprehensive/definitive guidebooks that include all the worthwhile climbing in an area (eg. Ogwen) and selected climbs guidebooks which contain the best climbing in a region, eg Pembroke.

We also offer some titles from other publishers. Steep Stone is an independent group, including CC members, dedicated to the publication of guides to the climbing in Elenydd (Mid Wales); that huge track of wild hills, valleys and coastline between Snowdonia and Pembroke. Currently they have produced a comprehensive guide to Central Wales, as well as informative and up-to-date free downloadable guides to climbing in the Berwyns and Rhinogs.

Four Miles High by Josephine Scarr isn’t a guidebook, it is the remarkable story of the first two all women expeditions to The Himalaya in 1961 and 62. These highly successful expeditions made the first ascents of nine peaks including Lha Shamma (6,412 m). It has been re-printed as a limited edition by The Pinnacle Club as part of their centenary celebrations.
