Dramatic Rock Movement at Castle Rock Thirlmere

The cracks that appeared around the upper left side of the N Crag in 2011-12 have widened dramatically in the past weeks, possibly as a result of the recent (6/3/18) “earthquake” at Grasmere and earth movement was felt at Thirlspot. Normally the movement is greatest in Oct-Nov and there is little activity at this time of the year.

The two glass slides have been measuring the small movement over the last few years, the should overlap!
