Sorry to hear that Mac has died. I remember many happy times from when we shared digs for three years in Manchester, including regular routes on gritstone, The Ryan-Lochmatter and even helping in his rescue on Cloggy. Sadly we have not met since the centenary dinner, and now he’s gone. And will be missed.
I cannot attend the funeral, but will be thinking of him, and Loreto.

  2. Mac was a hero for me and strangely for a climber – although not for those that know me – not because he was a climber. Mac’s involvement in the various BBC computing related shows in the 80’s set me up for a career in IT. So I was quite excited when we met in 2009 at the AC AGM dinner. The picture we had taken seems to have captured it well; it’s now being used by, amongst other sites, Wikipedia, the BMC, the CC, and Google!
Sad news, but so many fantastic memories! See ya Mac.
