Borrowdale Meet June ‘23

Borrowdale Meet June ‘23
Good weather, good climbing and good company made this an enjoyable meet. Just over twenty people attended. It was pleasing to see that 30% were women and there was also a similar proportion of people in their twenties and early thirties. Whilst most people came from the north of England three people came from Scotland and one from Weymouth.
People took advantage of the good weather to visit mountain crags. Central Buttress and Botterill’s Slab were climbed on Scafell, following a two and a half hours’ walk from Seathwaite. Where Eagles Dare on Eagle Crag received a rare ascent on a day which also included two routes on Bleak Howe Buttress by the same team. High Crag was a popular venue with Delilah being a particular favourite. Engineer’s Slabs on Gable was also climbed. Goat Crag offered shade and DDT, Praying Mantis and Tumbleweed Connection were ascended. The Fairfield Horseshoe and Coledale round were completed, as were several routes on Shepherd’s.
Many thanks to all attendees for their good company. Many thanks to the warden and maintenance meet for a great hut to stay in!
