Annual Lake District Nesting Birds Restrictions
The annual access restrictions to protect nesting birds are now in force. Restrictions to protect Ravens run until 31st May while those to protect Peregrines run until 30th June. Most sites are monitored and restrictions will be lifted early if possible. Full details of restricted crags can be found in the climbing area of the FRCC website,

Just a quick question Why can’t we have all Bird Restrictions for all the country put on our website .

There is no technical problem in doing so, it just needs someone to do it, possibly the club’s regional BMC reps?
I attend the Lakes group that agrees the restrictions each year on behalf of FRCC. I then maintain the bird restrictions page on the FRCC website. This is the easiest way to see all the restrictions as they are are on a single page. The BMC RAD has the same information but isn’t as easy to navigate. The Lakes group monitors some sites to see if restrictions can be lifted earlier than usual, if so the RAD and FRCC website are updated to ensure accuracy and maximise access. I am not sure if other areas have such an organised approach.
To generate a trans National list (Post devolution Wales, Scotland & England) for our website would need someone to trawl through the RAD and whatever systems exist in Wales and Scotland. To keep the list up to date they would need to check regularly for updates. Rob Dyer at BMC might be worth talking with if you are volunteering!
