Youth meet in Wales for fun and lead climbing

Youth 'Improving Climbing' Meet Friday 10th-Sunday 12th May at Ynys Ettws Organisers: Adele Long and Steve Hardy We are organising this meet to help our children and grandchildren have fun climbing and to develop their lead climbing outside safely. The focus of the meet is to provide lead climbing development opportunities to any family with kids already just starting to lead (e.g. having led a Diff), right up to those who are leading regularly. The meet is of course open to all members, but take into account (and be supportive of) the purpose of the meet when booking a space. This post is to gauge interest from those members and their families and also to ask whether there are CC members who are trained climbing instructors who would be willing to give up a day of their time to coach teenage kids (we're expecting age 11-17 will be interested but this isn't hard and fast) in lead climbing for free. So that would mean you have something along the lines of an RCDI, MIA, MIC. You'd be coaching on a 1 to 2 basis with climber parent helpers as needed. Parents will be present to meet safeguarding good practice. The FRCC did a similar event earlier this year in Langdale for 16 teenagers and it was a great success and a lot of fun for parents, kids and FRCC member/instructors. We will provide a communal meal on the Saturday night and some evening fun and games and a slideshow to inspire both young and old (er). On the Sunday we will climb as normal on a family meet – hopefully joining together at shared locations and mixed teams – weather dependant of course (bouldering, trad, sport, indoor) If you are interested, please could you message me, or drop me an email stevehardy50@btopenworld.com , thank you.
