Calpe Winter Gathering
Date: Sunday 1st December 2024 to Monday 31st March 2025Venue: Calpe
Every year as the days shorten many club members head South to the Calpe area of Spain to sun themselves on the warm rock of Costa Blanca. Over the winter (busiest December and January) there is a migrant group who come together to drink coffee, climb, walk, share lifts, drink beer, ascend Via Ferratas, descend canyons and cycle. Unlike a conventional meet, responsibility for your travel arrangements, accommodation, finding you a climbing partner, etc is your own. Many members try to catch up at least a few times during their stay. Communication is principally via a WhatsApp group that is open to club members (CC/FRCC) until the end of March each year. There is no meet organiser, people sort their own flights/ferries and local transport, accommodation and food. By joining the group you will become aware of who is about, any social activities and be able to seek out useful information. During the stay the cast changes regularly but there's usually people about with the busiest period being the Christmas/new year The WhatsApp group is open now, for advice, info and sharing plans.
