HELYG CENTENARY

2025 marks the centenary of the Club’s acquisition of Helyg, the first successful climbing hut in Britain.

Join us as we mark this historical moment in climbing:

• Open house at Helyg on Saturday: starting with a celebration at the hut for members, followed by open house for visitors (tea and cake, story telling)
• Saturday evening at Plas y Brenin: exhibitions, talks and informal dinner - ALL FREE and ALL WELCOME!
• Sunday evening: Members’ social at RW Lloyd hut, Ynys Ettws
• All weekend: climbing challenge, recreating photos in Rock Climbers in Action in Snowdonia (in memory of John Cleare); exhibitions by National Trust and Mountain Heritage Trust at PyB and Ogwen Cottage; National Trust volunteer led walks
• Publication of a booklet celebrating the history of the Helyg and the Club’s huts
