Stunningly located in the heart of the Llanberis Pass and surrounded on all sides by Eryri's most spectacular mountains, Ynys Ettws is possibly the best-situated hut in Britain. After a ground-up refurbishment in 2023-4 this truly is a state of the art base for exploring Eryri, whilst all the major crags of the Llanberis Pass are within walking distance.

  • Number of Beds: 19
  • Room Sizes: 9, 6, 4
  • Members’ Room: 9 bed, a member’s guest may stay in the room if all other rooms are booked out to parties.
  • Bookable Room: 6 bed room
  • Camping and vans: Members only (small tents)
  • Under 18s: members with under 18’s may stay in the bookable room or camp/van and use the hut facilities.
  • Ambulated Disability Bed: No
Who can book

Members may book beds at any time, other bookings are subject to the following conditions. The hut is reserved for members and their guests when a meet is based there and for members, their guests and members of our Kindred Clubs over all public holidays. Additionally Ynys Ettws is reserved for members, their guests and Kindred Club members over all weekends (Friday and Saturday nights). At other times BMC, Mountaineering Ireland and Mountaineering Scotland members and groups may book up to a maximum of 9 beds for Sunday to Thursday nights inclusive. We are unable to accept bookings from youth or student groups.

Notes

Wheelie Bin: Please ensure that the chain is tightly closed or the bin will be filled by members of the public & we will be fined for the recyclable waste left in it. Padlock number is 3691 & remember to push the button too!

Hut slippers: it's a good idea to bring a pair of soft shoes for inside the hut. There's plenty of shoe racks and it will keep the level of dirt on the floor down.

Location

Situated on the south side of the A4086 Llanberis Pass road about 1.5 miles beyond Pen-y-Pass. It is almost directly below Carreg Wastad and is the first building on the left as you descend the pass.
