ARCHIVES

The Climbers’ Club maintains a comprehensive archive of important Club material. These are stored at the Gwynedd Council County Records Office in Caernarfon. The Archives are managed by the Honorary Archivist to whom all enquiries should be addressed.

Viewing

The County Records Office is open to the public. As the Archive belongs to the Climbers’ Club, the catalogue is not available on the Records Office website, it is in ‘hard copy’ form held in the Records Office and is viewable by members of the public. The catalogue and the process for viewing items will be explained by the helpful Records Office staff. Archived material may be viewed in the public area of the Records Office. Photography is not allowed, photocopying (chargeable) is permitted. There are some restrictions, e.g. Minutes of the Main Committee and Sub-Committees are not available to view without a letter of authority from the Club Archivist or the Club Secretary.

Removal

Items may not be removed from the Archives without a letter of authority from the Club Archivist or the Club Secretary.

Deposits

Deposits into the Climbers’ Club Archive may only be made by the Club Archivist, Deputy Archivist or the Club Secretary. The Club Archivist is always willing to receive relevant material from members for deposit, please contact our Archivist to discuss.
