Aims

An unmodified reprint of the Carneddau section of the 1993 Ogwen and Carneddau CC guidebook is published here with three aims:

  1. To make available this now out-of-print information pending publication of a new guide.
  2. To elicit feedback to assist in the preparation of the new definitive guide planned for 2010.
  3. Although the Club is totally committed to its conventional guidebook publishing programme, it wishes to ascertain whether electronic publishing of interim or otherwise unavailable information is helpful to climbers and, if so, which are the most useful formats.

Formats

The text is offered in the two most used formats employed for the 2001-5 Lundy Supplements. In addition we make them available in the latest eMag format.

  1. Carneddau_reprint_09A.pdf (496KB) has the text enlarged to fit single-sided full A4 pages; this version is recommended for screen viewing, and for printing out for home study or for the odd route. The contents and index have been created with hyperlinks: point the cursor at any item in either of these and a click takes you straight to that item’s page.
  2. To mock up a handy pocket-sized guide for use on the crag, choose Carneddau_reprint_09B.pdf, which is set in facing-pages mode (or ‘two-up’). Print out the complete file (on A4 paper in landscape), trim to the crop marks (optional), cut down the centre, and shuffle into order. You then have 93 single-sided guidebook-size pages with an extra 1cm added to the left margins for stapling. The contents and index are not interactive in this version.
  3. To view and print in eMag format choose Carneddau text.

The photodiagrams (all mono) are mostly double-page spread and would therefore fit neither of the above formats. They (and the area map) are all included at their original size in the file Carneddau_photodiagrams.pdf (3.05MB, so be patient for the download!). Any or all can then be printed out as required. To vuew and print these diagrams in eMag format choose Carneddau diagrams.
